Some people love hardwood floors, while others prefer traditional carpet. I chose a home with hardwood despite my preference for carpet and it has been…an adjustment to say the least. My son and I are so used to walking around barefoot but I don’t really like to on hardwood. No matter how clean you TRY to keep it, it just isn’t and don’t get me started on how cold it can be. Nevertheless, I love this home, so if we have to wear slippers so be it, but what about the stairs! The slippers they make for kids with the soft bottom is simply not suitable for walking down hardwood stairs SAFELY. The solution? This pre-cut, non-slip tape for stairs from Amazon!

Non-Slip Tape Made Simple

The best thing about this product is that it only take 4 steps, and there’s zero cutting involved! Everything is made easy for you because the pieces come pre-cut, the roller is included, and the process is detailed right on the box.

Before Purchasing Non-Slip Tape for Stairs

Before purchasing this non-slip tape for stairs, be sure to measure your stair width as this product is sold pre-cut. Don’t purchase the full width of your staircase and it will be much easier with a little space on each end. For reference, I purchased the 32″x4″ pack of 15, which I think is standard.

Step One: Clean The Surface

The last thing you want to do is apply adhesive over dirt and/or grime. Give your stairs a good sweep and mop before applying this product. Instead of mopping I opted to use wipes which significantly decreased drying time.

Step Two: Remove Paper Backing

As simple as this sounds, ensure you don’t remove the entire strip before applying. Instead, peel back enough for it to take a good grip to the stair, then peel as you go.

Step Three: Apply Adhesive

As stated in the last step, you’re going to apply a small portion and peel as you go. Be sure to leave even space on each edge. You may want to lay this down with the paper backing before getting started to get an idea for where you should begin each strip. Take extra precaution that you are applying the strip straight.

Step Four: Rolllll

Use the included roller to reinforce the bond. Focus mostly on the edges, to prevent lifting, as this product comes somewhat folded.
