New Year Reset: Get My Life Together For 2026 as a Tired Mom of Two

New Year Reset: How I’m Getting My Life Together Before 2026 as a Tired Mom of Two

Every December, I hit that point where I’m mentally like, “Okay, it’s time.”
Time to reset, refresh, and get my life back together before the new year begins. This is especially necessary after a year of newborn life, school drop-offs, moving, pumping, work, and straight-up survival mode.

This isn’t one of those perfect, aesthetic “that girl” routines (although I love a good ‘remember who you are’ post. This is a realistic New Year reset for moms who are exhausted but still want to start 2026 feeling a little more like themselves.

If you’re also in your “I’m finally getting my life together before the new year” era — welcome. Grab a snack, hide from the kids, and let’s reset together.

⭐ 1. My ‘Bare Minimum’ New Year Reset List

This is the stuff I do even when I’m overwhelmed. Nothing intense — just small momentum builders.

✔ Deep clean one space, not the whole house

For me, it’s the entryway or my bathroom. A small win = big energy shift.

✔ Declutter one category

Not rooms. Categories.

  • expired bathroom items
  • kids’ old papers
  • broken toys
  • random kitchen drawer
    This keeps it realistic.

✔ Refresh one part of my routine

Not everything — just one.
For example:

  • prepping my pump parts the night before
  • putting clothes out
  • charging all devices in one spot
  • quick 5-minute “reset” timer at night

✔ Buy 3–5 small things that make life smoother

Not a haul. Just little “sanity savers”:
(Amazon list goes here)

✔ Choose one goal for the next 90 days

Not a year.
Not a big goal.
Just ONE thing that supports the version of me I want to be in 2026.

⭐ 2. The Mom Edition New Year Reset (Because Life Is Different for Us)

Being a mom means the reset has to fit in tiny pockets of time.

✔ Reset the car

Because moms live 30% of life inside it.
Trash out.
Wipes restocked.
Snacks replaced.

✔ Reset the diaper bag

Anything old or crusty? Toss it.
Restock the things you ALWAYS forget.

✔ Reset the “mom corner”

Whether it’s:

  • a nightstand
  • a pumping cart
  • or a couch corner

Make it cozy again. You deserve it.

✔ Reset your phone

This is a big one:

  • delete 50+ old photos
  • clear emails
  • update lock screen
  • remove apps that drain you
  • refresh your notes app organization

Digital clutter = real stress.

⭐ 3. The “Feel Like Myself Again” New Year Reset

This is the part where I try to reconnect with ME — the woman I was before kids, jobs, and exhaustion took over.

✔ Revisit my hair/skin/body care basics

Not a glow-up, just consistency.

✔ Choose one hobby to bring back

Reading? Walking? Journaling? Sims? (yes this counts 😂)

✔ Fix the things that mentally drain me

For me it’s:

  • a broken drawer
  • a messy closet corner
  • pajama sets that don’t match
  • kitchen stuff that needs replacing

When those tiny things are fixed, I feel lighter.

⭐ 4. My 2026 Soft Life Wishlist (Realistic Mom Edition)

A short list of things I’m adding into my life because I DESERVE convenience and softness:

  • morning sunlight
  • a daily 5-minute stretch
  • slower mornings with the kids
  • better boundaries
  • a weekly “reset hour” (alone or in silence)
  • more home comfort items
  • healthier snacks stocked
  • less chaos, more ease

⭐ 6. How I’m Setting Myself Up for a Smoother 2026

Mom life doesn’t need a huge transformation — it needs tiny, repeatable ways to make life feel lighter.

So here’s my personal 2026 intention:
More peace. More softness. More support. Less overthinking.

And if you’re with me, your New Year Reset doesn’t need to look perfect.
Just choose one area, give yourself grace, and start where you are.
